Without any doubt, the third stage of the RRC 2012 was the most interesting one. It was contributed by a rain, which poured down on the very first day of the race and nearly washed off the favorites and their striving for victory.
Because of the rain, Frolov’s BMW oversteered at the very first curve of the very first United 2000 class race. After this accident the champion had to fall out of the race. Artem Eremin, leader of Moscow Storm Motorsport team, immediately took advantage of the situation. He overtook Pavel Kalmanovich, native of Tolyatti driving a Lada Granta, and withstood the onslaught of Nikolay Karamyshev, who was driving the same model – SEAT Leon, and was the first to cross the finish line.
Victory? Alas! Excessive contact struggle with Karamyshev at the lap added 20 seconds of time penalty to Eremin. So, the first place was taken by the racer from Kursk, aggrieved in the finals.
After the three stages in the Touring class the tournament bracket took the following shape:
1) AlexanderFrolov, BMWE90, 500 points
2) DmitryDobrovolskiy, BMWE46, 474 points
3) ArtemEremin, SEAT Leon, 381 points
4) NikolayKaramyshev, SEATLeon, 312 points
5) MikhailStepanov, BMW 320, 293 points.
