Last weekend, on May 19-20, the third stage of the EUROPEAN TOURING CAR cup took place in Austria at Salzburgring. Russian Super production class driver Nikolay Karamyshev won the cup for the third time.
In a qualification Nikolay yielded 0.006 sec. and took the second position in the starting grid. However, in the very first curve he spurted into the lead, after which his position remained constant. By the middle of the first race he was more than 100 m ahead of the rivals.
The second race was marked by a fierce struggling starting from the very first lap. Alexander Toshich, holder of the European cup-2011 from Serbia, tried to force Nikolay’s car from the track six times. Possibly, autocross driving experience helped the driver from Kursk to withstand such a severe assault on the track.
Native of Kursk did not yield his palm.
Austrian city of Salzburg rose in applause in front of Nikolay Karamyshev, master of sports of the Russian Federation. EUROPEAN TOURING CAR heard the Russian national anthem once again.
Fourth final stage will be held in Italy at the Imola track on the 23rd of June. It will decide the winner of the European Touring Car Cup – 2012.
